Food Matters
I can't emphasize enough how much the food you put into your body matters when it comes to reaching your health and fitness goals. There are a shit ton of diets out there that are just confusing the hell out of people. Keto, Paleo, Vegan, blood type, etc. etc. The list goes on. You have probably heard this before but balance really is key. You also have to find what works for you. What works for one person may not work for another. We all have different bodies, different backgrounds, and different personality types. Anyone who thinks one diet fits all is out of their mind.
Relationships with food are emotional...sometimes like an abusive relationship. It can make us feel good, and then make us feel bad, guilty, and shameful. We swear we are going to quit the cycle but always end up coming back for more. Perhaps this is why it is the biggest struggle. Food is a comfort, it is a way to nourish ourselves and we can't just straight up quit it. We have to eat to live and in our world today we have so many choices to chose from it can be daunting. I don't think a specific diet is the biggest key, I think changing our relationship with food is.
I always recommend that people eat food that is as close to its original form as possible. The less processed the better. A processed food every now and then isn't going to kill us if we fill the rest of our diets with nutrient dense food. Instead of thinking of food as good and bad, think of the best way to be kind to your body. Food is not the enemy. We are all doing our best to survive and food is needed for survival. You are actually doing your body good by feeding it.
Changing your relationship with food isn't going to happen overnight. It is going to be a long process with small changes, one step at a time. Be patient with yourself. When you are ready to make a change. Start with small steps that you know are achievable. It can help you gain the self confidence you need to make the next change, then the next change... and then next.
Slow change is okay. Slow results are OK. What matters is that you are moving forward and that is better than going nowhere. You WILL get to your goal.
